Relaxation in Prescribed Timelines Due to Covid 19 as Issued by SEBI on April 13, 2020

Relaxation in adherence to prescribed timelines issued by SEBI due to Covid 19

At present, the nation is observing complete lockdown due to CoVID-19 under the direction of Government of India. A need has been felt to extend to extend the timelines for processing  of  various  investor  requests  pertaining  to  physical  securities  and Compliance and disclosures to be made under SEBI Regulations and various SEBI circulars.

SEBI has issued circular no. SEBI/HO/MIRSD/RTAMB/CIR/P/2020/59 dated April 13, 2020 containing directions for Registrars to an issue and Share Transfer Agents/ Issuer Companies, holding SEBI registration under Category 1 or Category 2 of RTI/STA giving following relaxation in timelines:

  1.  21 days relaxation is given to intermediaries / market participants which is equivalent to nationwide lockdown declared by Government of India for activities/investor requests/compliances as per Annexure to circular no. SEBI/HO/MIRSD/RTAMB/CIR/P/2020/59 dated April 13, 2020
  2.  In case, there is any extension to lockdown period either by Government of India/State Governments, additional relaxations in prescribed timelines shall be given to intermediaries/ market participants
